International scientific conference
Slovenia, Brdo pri Kranju, 2 March 2018 (new date!)
Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes (CMEPIUS) in cooperation with the Ministry of the Republic of Slovenia for Education, Science and Sport organises the second biennial international scientific conference on the quality of university teaching and learning. The aim of this year conference is to focus on challenges and opportunities in inclusion of international and intercultural dimensions in higher education as an important element of improving quality of higher education concerning all stakeholders. The event is organised within the scope of the Erasmus+ programme and the EHEA project.
Striving for mutual understanding in an increasingly intercultural world requires individuals, who are ethical and responsible citizens that appreciate the connections between the local, national, international and global. Disciplines and the labour market are no longer only local or national, but are also increasingly regional, in some disciplines even global and graduates’ competences should meet the needs of the today’s world. Various international activities influence the quality of education at individual, programme, institutional, national and international level. In this context, the concepts of internationalization of the curriculum and internationalization at home should be addressed as well, with the aim to empower all individuals, teachers and students, with intercultural competences within domestic learning environments, including content related issues before, during and after mobility. However, a number of challenges are also addressed, when dealing with global and intercultural dimensions in higher education, especially in the light of quality university teaching and learning, which is one of the main topics of higher education consultations and policies in recent years.
AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE
In accordance with the topic of the conference it is expected to receive papers addressing the following subject areas:
- development of higher education teachers’ competences by incorporating the international and intercultural dimension in higher education,
- impact of internationalisation at home and internationalisation of the curriculum on the quality of learning and teaching,
- internationalisation policies and strategies at national and institutional level to foster development of quality of learning and teaching,
- the impact of student and staff mobility in EU and other programmes (eg. CEEPUS, bilateral agreements, etc) on the quality of learning and teaching,
- the contribution of internationalisation in primary and secondary education to the quality of learning and teaching in universities.
You can register your papers in accordance with the instructions, and prepare them in the following submission format:
• research-based paper (30 minutes: 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion),
• workshop (45 minutes),
LANGUAGE OF THE CONFERENCE
The registered papers for active participation, presentations of papers and papers/articles in written form for publication should be submitted in English language.
We kindly invite all higher education stakeholders and also primary end secondary teachers from CEE countries who are interested in the above mentioned subject areas to actively participate at the conference. Your experiences, reflections and innovative approaches to teaching, dissemination practices, staff professional development, as well as in developing national and international policies and strategies will be highly appreciated.
Thus, teachers, support staff and experts of different areas and fields of research, researchers, non-teaching staff and students are invited to submit their papers and share their cases of good practices, experiences, findings and results with the participants of the conference.
An extended abstract should be submitted, which clearly state the topic, purpose and methodology (the details are given in e-form according to the chosen conference format). Besides, a short abstract (100–150 words) should be submitted, including the key components of the extended abstract, which will be published in the conference programme.
After the presentation at the conference we invite authors to submit their papers in written form (article) for publication in a conference proceedings with at least two blinded reviewers.
Accepted papers should be developed into full papers and submitted until 4 March 2018 the latest. Further instructions concerning submission of full papers will be given in due time
TIMELINE – KEY DATES
- Submission deadline – for the registration of papers (active participation): Wednesday, 3 January 2018.
- Deadline for feedback to persons submitting the papers – acceptance of proposals will be announced no later than: Friday, 26 January 2018.
- Deadline for registration for the conference (participation without paper): Wednesday, 28 February 2018 or until all vacancies are filled.
- Date of conference: Friday, 2 march 2018.
- Deadline for submission of invited papers in written form – full papers should be sent no later than: Sunday, 4 March 2018.

REIMBURSEMENT TO PARTICIPANTS FROM CEE COUNTRIES
Travel and accommodation expenses to the first 15 active participants from CEE countries (excluding Slovenia), who will submit their proposals and whose proposals will be accepted for presentation, will be covered after submission of all the invoices. The details are available here.
